JOB GOAL
Responsible for all roofing repairs on buildings and classrooms occasionally in inclement weather.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities - Keeps roofs clean from debris as well as performing visual inspections that ensure roofs are watertight.
- Assists with the preparation for the application of new roofing materials for maintenance repair.
- Assists in installing and repairing roofs, flashings, and surfaces.
- Assists in the installation and maintenance roof drains, plumbing drainpipes, metal drain covers, stripping, and flashing.
- Assists in emergency leak repairs and maintenance processes and procedures on a variety roof types.
- Assists in setting up ladders, scaffolds, hoists, and other equipment for taking supplies to roofs.
- Assists with the installation of metal work on roofs
- Unloads materials and tools from work trucks as directed.
- Maintains tools and equipment in good working conditions.
- Accountable for snow removal from building entrances during inclement weather
- Performs other related duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY None
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Knowledge, Skills & abilities - Basic understanding of principles, practices, and methods used in the maintenance and repair of roofs
- Basic understanding of safety practices and procedures
- Ability to frequently ascend and descend ladders up to 40 feet
- Ability to work in extreme weather/temperatures
- Ability to read and understand lay out drawing of roof sections
- Working knowledge of and ability to inspect all roof drains, roof areas holding water or ponding, and all materials that must be secured and/or fastened accurately
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including during non-business hours as required by the flow of operations
- Ability to learn basic sheet metal work related to flashing, etc.
- Ability to learn how to use software programs such as MP2, roof manager, etc.
- Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences, orally and in writing, including electronic media
- Operating knowledge of computer programs, including email, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases
- Excellent time management skills and ability to organize, prioritize, manage, and carry out duties efficiently and within established timeframes
- Ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with all stakeholders
Education, Training & Experience - High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- 0 to 1 years in Roofing experience
OR - Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the position
Certificates, Licenses & Registrations - Valid Driver's License
- Possession of, or ability to obtain an appropriate, valid CDL Class A Driver's license
- Ability to obtain a District approved certification or state licensure and/ or various roofing product specific certification(s)
Preferred qualifications - Apprentice in Commercial Roofing
