As a Packaging Engineering, you will have the opportunity to drive innovation, renovation, and maintenance of packaging, enabling growth and ensuring quality objectives and business continuity for Kilcoy Global Foods North America. From crafting and performing tests to analyzing data, presenting results cross-functionally, and commercializing pipeline opportunities, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of our packaging solutions.
Role and Responsibilities - Lead packaging development projects from concept to commercialization, driving the execution of ongoing business results and broadening the innovation pipeline.
- Simultaneously lead multiple projects with complex scopes, demonstrating exceptional project management skills.
- Provide onsite technical knowledge for buy documents in new product for packaging (Dimensions, pallet patterns, dielines) based on current equipment capabilities
- Manage technical timelines, communicate effectively, identify and address issues and risks, and develop contingency plans.
- Design and conduct plant trials, and large-scale tests to optimize packaging performance within manufacturing facilities.
- Create and manage packaging specifications and BOM reviews
- Collaborating with cross functional teams to drive execution of projects from concept to commercialization across multiple projects in different businesses/categories.
- Manage supplier relationships in partnership with Procurement team
- Manage and fulfill packaging workflow requests and inquires with the commercialization process and Kilcoy systems
- Summarize and translate results clearly into recommendations for technical and non-technical teams to drive business decisions.
- Adapt and apply scientific principles to new situations/products and demonstrate the ability to work autonomously most of the time.
- This role will assist in other critical areas of the R&D and broader Commercial organization
Requirements
Requirements - BS/MS Packaging Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
- 4-6 years in a development/commercialization role (which can include all graduate and/or internship work)
- A solid background in the Consumer-Packaged Goods (CPG)/Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) industry or a comparable field, with Packaging expertise in a relevant category.
- Experience in a large scale manufacturing/plant environment (knowledge of equipment, plant roles/responsibilities, etc.)
- Project Management experience preferred - strong organization skills required
- In-depth understanding of packaging materials, functionality, qualification, and commercialization of plastics, coatings, barriers, and design of experiments. Excellent communication, influencing, prioritization, problem solving and project management skills
Key competences - Strong critical thinking skills and ability to make connections to the big picture
- Ability to lead, influence, coach, and motivate others
- Manage multiple assignments/tasks concurrently with the ability to question the priority of work
- Strong understanding of Design of Experiments
