Job Description

“We Power the Magic!” That’s our motto at Disney Experiences (DX). Our team creates world-class immersive digital experiences for the Company’s premier vacation brands including Disney’s Parks & Resorts worldwide, Disney Cruise Line, Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa, and Disney Vacation Club.

We are responsible for the end-to-end digital and physical Guest experience for all technology & digital-led initiatives across the Attractions & Entertainment, Food & Beverage, Resorts & Transportation and Merchandise lines of business as well as other initiatives including MyDisneyExperience and Hey, Disney!

This role sits in the Product Design & Creative organization within Technology & Digital for Disney Experiences. It works closely with Broadcast Services and related teams from across the company.

The Motion Designer will report to the Manager-Motion Design.

About The Role & Team:

As a Motion Designer, you will be part of the team responsible for product content that helps our guests gain the most enjoyment from their experiences within our Parks, Resorts and Cruises. This team creates original media content to be shared across digital platforms for internal and external audiences. With the expansion of Disney’s digital ecosystem, extensive opportunities exist to tell Disney stories and educate our Guests in new ways — including in-app/Web short-form video that articulates the magic and value of our Parks, digital products, and opportunities to engage with our Parks from anywhere. This team works across the Technology & Digital segment, supporting all sites and business partners across the enterprise. As a Motion Designer, this person will be expected to demonstrate skills in concepting, storyboarding, image/video capture, and post-production — mainly in editing, motion design, and sound design. Additionally, interfacing with Broadcast Services and other internal partners will be a core part of his/her liaising responsibilities. Additionally ensuring deadlines and budget expectations are met, the Motion Designer will maintain production timelines diligently while working within the larger team.

What You'll Do:

  • Design original, useful and elegant digital experience content for guests of Disney Experiences worldwide

  • Engage in design explorations of multiple solutions and how they fit into the broader user experience

  • Contribute to projects within assigned portfolio, partnering with other designers and collaborating with cross-functional teams – including product management, technology and consumer insights – to take work from ideation to reality

  • Build relationships with team members, leaders, and cross functional partners to drive collaboration and innovation on projects

  • Ensure Disney-level creative quality is executed on all video projects, working closely with business partners to ensure creative vision meets business requirements

  • Design content for product experiences across web, mobile web and native apps (iOS and Android), and emerging tech platforms

  • You will be encouraged to stay up to date with capture and editing techniques and emerging technologies around the equipment and tools used to accomplish the work

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of related work experience

  • Comfortable working in an Agile environment

  • Experience as an end-to-end multidisciplinary product designer, with demonstrated capabilities across a range of design disciplines

  • Strong communication and presentation skills: ability to articulate questions, design decisions, and updates to leaders and project team members as needed; strong understanding of how their communication impacts the work

  • Strong understanding of design best practices and ability to deliver design assets that meet project goals and enhances the user experience

  • Proficient in Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Photoshop, and Microsoft programs, and willing to learn some of the other technologies we use as well as capture experience using various cameras and equipment

  • Portfolio required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven professionalism in a corporate environment with ability to interface with executives in a respectful manner

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to ask clarifying questions and ensure project expectations are delivered and understood

  • Strong presentation skills, with the ability to both craft and deliver

  • Efficiency in speed of work and ability to meet short deadlines

  • Proven understanding of the Disney Guest experience, product and brand

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent work experience
