We are looking to grow our company and our team with an exceptionally talented, team-focused, Manager of Mechanical Engineering.

THE OPPORTUNITY 

We are looking for the highest caliber Manager of Mechanical Engineering to provide vision and leadership to a growing team of mechanical engineers as they develop and launch game-changing technology in the industrial 3D printing space. The Manager of Mechanical Engineering will ensure that engineering processes are fully executed and that concepts are turned into final customer ready products. It is critical that this person is a hands-on, creative problem solver. This is an ideal job for someone who has leadership experience and who is equally passionate about integrating mechanical hardware with electronics and software in complex systems.

• Lead the team in the mechanical development of a production ready 3D printer design including mechanical and mechatronic sub systems.
• Manage each phase of the project development process and partner with manufacturing to deliver finished product to the customer on time.
• Collaborate with Chemistry, Applications, Electrical and Software leaders to assist in meeting overall customer deliverables and business objectives.
• Partner with the leadership team on developing a technology roadmap and strategy.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR IN YOU   

 

• Four plus years of mechanical engineering experience with at least two years supervision of a mechanical engineering team.
• Demonstrated success delivering multiple products from concept to production.
• Documented experience leading small to mid-sized teams of direct reports.
• Experience coaching and mentoring employees.
• Demonstrated success collaborating with large cross-functional teams.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience required.

HOW YOU’LL REALLY STAND OUT

 

• Expertise in mechatronics, FEA or Systems Modeling including delivering a product to production.
• Experience with phase-gate project management and documented delivery of multiple products to production.

FIRST 6 MONTHS @ AZUL 3D

Within one month, you will:  

 

• Understand Azul’s core technologies, technology roadmap, printers, and product development strategy.
• Collaborate with the cross-functional team, understand each person’s area of expertise and skills spanning the mechanical, electrical, software, materials, and applications teams.
• Mentor the team in making critical design decisions on printer mechanical hardware.

 
Within three months, you will:  

 

• Understand the printer and business model architecture.
• Develop strong understanding of the product development schedule and drive key analyses and decisions.
• Lead the team in delivering manufacturing ready solutions.

Within six months, you will:  

 

• Contribute positively to Azul 3D’s company culture.
• Deliver a production ready design of the current Beta printer.
• Engage in developing sustainable product development strategies for the future of Azul 3D.
