The Ramsey County Sheriff's Office operates the Adult Detention Center (commonly referred to as the Ramsey County Jail). The Adult Detention Center (jail/ADC), opened in 2003, is a 500-bed pre-trial facility providing safe and secure detention services to individuals following their arrest until a court disposition is reached. The ADC/Jail also houses individuals being held for probation or parole violations; transports wanted fugitives in/out of Ramsey County; and provides detention security for inmates in need of care at Regions Hospital.

The Ramsey County Sheriff's Office recognize that many individuals who have contact with the criminal justice system also have underlying mental health issues. Both agencies are involved with county-wide efforts to increase program options for inmates and coordinate care between mental health professionals, caseworkers, and correctional officers in our facilities.
